YAMAGUCHI IN YAMAGUCHI PREFECTURE
RURIKOJI TEMPLE FIVE-STORY PAGODA
Yamaguchi Prefecture is my home. Yamaguchi is known as the Kyoto of the West and has its own unique traditional culture. One of the rich representations of the traditional culture that you can find here is Japan’s national treasure, a five-story pagoda, that was originally built in 1442 during the Muromachi period.
This is the 10th oldest five-story pagoda in Japan, and it is known as one of the three most beautiful pagodas in the country. The pagoda sits quietly on the grounds of Rurikoji Temple, surrounded by nature. As a result, visitors can enjoy the view of the pagoda that changes beautifully as seasons flow.
The fresh young leaves of spring, the vibrant green of summer and the red, orange, yellow leaves of autumn give me a sense of peace and comfort.
